Buick Encore GX connectivity – everything you’d expect and more
The Encore has been one of the best small crossovers on the market for a long time now. So good that when it came time to create a newer version Buick didn’t just scrape the old one, but kept it for a few more seasons on sale, side by side with the newer rendition, the Encore GX.
Although their names make it seem as though the GX is just one of Encore’s trims, they’re actually two different cars completely. Today we’ll look at the Encore GX's connectivity features and before we dive into that, let's briefly browse through some of its other most important features.
First is exterior design.
With not even a year on the market, the GX looks exceptionally modern as Buick got to spruce up Encore’s lines to create this grown-up, dashing, incredibly attractive exterior shell.
Under the hood, the GX comes with two engine choices, both more efficient than the old model. Future owners get a standard 1.2-liter three-cylinder powertrain that will produce 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, or the upgrade, a 1.3-liter three-cylinder that can belt out 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. The 1.3-liter will also deliver 30 miles per gallon inside the city and 32 on the highway for a combined 31, a figure way above the segment average.
And that brings us to the long list of standard features, of which connectivity plays an important role.
All Encore GX models are equipped with the same exceptional 8.0-inch color touchscreen as part of the car’s infotainment system. The massive 8.0-inch touch has outstanding resolution and comes with GM's latest infotainment software interface, very intuitive to use, and highly responsive. It’s considered by many to be the best infotainment system this side of $40,000 and comes with complete Alexa integration which offers drivers and passengers access to voice commands.
On top of that, future owners get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, plus Bluetooth audio streaming. There’s also a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, also a standard feature plus both USB and USB-C ports to suit newer smartphones, tablets, and laptop models.
Other standard perks include keyless entry and ignition, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cloth and leatherette upholstery which can be upgraded to genuine leather on higher trims, and SiriusXM satellite radio.
