The 2021 GMC Yukon - good just got better
Prospective buyers that are in the market for eight-seater SUVs aren’t fond of making compromises. They usually know precisely what they want and expect nothing short of it. The latest, brand-new 2021 rendition of the GMC Yukon was redesigned to meet the needs of the most demanding of buyers.
We've been selling GMCs for decades here at Northwest Hills Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac in Torrington, Connecticut, and this year's Yukon is easily one of the best vehicles the manufacturer has ever built. And here's why we think that is.
1. Modern, assertive exterior look
You can tell straight away that the 2021 GMC Yukon was redesigned from scratch for this model year. A huge, imposing grille dominates the front with two equally imposing C-shaped LED headlights on either side.
As huge as the 2021 Yukon is, it not for one second seem boxy. More of a social status booster than a car, the Yukon seems fit for top execs and celebrities just like the Escalade does.
One thing’s for sure, you’ll turn quite a few heads driving it down the street and you’ll instantly win the envy of many.
2. Great powertrains
With the addition of the brand-new turbodiesel for 2021, the Yukon now offers three engines to choose from.
First is the base 5.3-liter V8 capable of delivering 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. It comes paired with a responsive 10-speed automatic that gives the Yukon an unexpected nimbleness for its enormous size.
The available upgrade is a 6.2-liter V8 that will belt out a whopping 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough power to tow up to 8,200 pounds, a pick-up truck level figure.
A bit later this year, future owners can also fit their Yukon with a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine that will generate 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
3. Exceptional trim levels, even the base
The 2021 Yukon comes loaded with connectivity, safety, and entertainment features. Even the SLE trim, the starting point, is fitted with 18- inch wheels, keyless entry and ignition, eight-person seating configuration, a 10.2-inch touchscreen, both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the Forward Collision Mitigation system.
Best value, in our opinion, is at the middle SLT trim that includes everything under the SLE to which it adds Blind-Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Mitigation, 20-inch wheels, a hands-free liftgate, heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, a nine-speaker Bose audio system, and a wireless charging pad.
On top of the three reasons listed above as to why we believe the 2021 Yukon is one of the best SUVs ever built under the GMC brand is just how comfortable and spacious the new Yukon is. Longer by almost 10 inches, it can transport up to eight adults in complete comfort and still keep 25.5 cubic feet of cargo room. With the second and third rows folded, cargo space balloons to a massive 122.9 cubic feet which is more than enough to fit an entire dismantled Tesla.
By all accounts, the 2021 Yukon is an exceptional car. So, if you're in the market for a three-row SUV that can offer great interior comfort, high-end exterior looks, a great set of engines, and the very latest tech in terms of safety and connectivity, you best put the GMC Yukon at the top of your shortlist.
