Trim levels on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
With eight different trims and five engines to choose from, the 2021 Silverado 1500 is an exceptionally customizable truck and it’s likely you’ll never come across a Silverado that’s exactly the same as your own.
But so many options can be confusing and here’s where our 4-minute article will come in handy. Better yet, you can visit us at Northwest Hills Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac in Torrington, Connecticut to see all Silverado trims in our showroom and have our dedicated sales team walk you through all the available options.
Before you head on over, though, take a moment to see what every trim brings to the table.
1. The WT or Working Truck Silverado
The base model, and as the name suggests, the one most suitable for fleet purchases is the Silverado WT.
It comes with the 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6 engine that delivers 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a 6-speed automatic it can tow up to 7,900 pounds which is decent power, especially for the tantalizingly-low entry cost it comes with.
What standard features do you get on the WT? Future owners can expect 17-inch Ultra Silver painted steel wheels, 12 fixed cargo tie-downs, daytime running lamps, halogen reflector headlamps, single-zone climate control, a 3.5-in. driver information center, 6 airbags, Bluetooth audio streaming, the Chevy Infotainment 3 System with a 7.0-inch color touch, a rear vision camera, and both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
2. The Silverado 1500 Custom
The Custom Silverado comes with an upgraded powertrain in the form of the 2.7-liter turbo inline-four engine that can belt out 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a responsive 8-speed automatic transmission and can tow up to 9.600 pounds.
Including everything under the WT trim, the list of standard features on the Custom also includes 20-inch Bright Silver painted aluminum wheels, cargo bed LED lighting, heated power outside mirrors, LED tail lamps, Tailgate with EZ lift assist and power lock/release, a six-speaker audio system, OnStar® and Chevrolet Connected Access capability, hitch guidance, remote start and keyless entry, the SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, the Teen Driver technology, content theft alarm, power windows with rear express-down, and a 12-volt front power outlet.
3. The Silverado 1500 LT
Building on top of the Silverado Custom are the LT and Custom Trail Boss. With the same cab/bed options as Custom, the LT also makes the 3.0-liter Duramax® turbo diesel and 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management™ engines available.
Its list of standard features includes that of the Custom to which it adds an automatic locking rear differential, 17-inch Bright Silver painted aluminum wheels, a ten-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar, a 4.2-inch color driver information center, dual-zone automatic climate control, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel with controls, two USB ports for the rear seats, heated driver and front outboard passenger seats, plus keyless open and start. It also bumps the touch from 7 to 8 inches.
4. The Silverado 1500 Custom Trail Boss
Also built on the Silverado Custom is the Custom Trail Boss trim. Back to the 4.3-liter as standard, future owners can also opt for the most powerful engine in Silverado’s lineup under the Custom Trail Boss. It’s the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management™ that will belt out a whopping 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission and will tow up to 13.300 pounds. Roughly the equivalent of three Teslas on top of each other.
If the 6.2-liter engine comes at a premium, the list of standard features adds to that of the Custom trim an automatic locking rear differential, four-wheel-drive, 18-inch High Gloss Black painted aluminum wheels, skid plates, the Z71 suspension with 2-inch factory lift, and the Mud-Terrain Goodyear® Wrangler DuraTrac® tires.
5. The Silverado 1500 RST
Just like the Custom trim, the LT acts as a platform for two upper trims, the RST and the LT Trail Boss. With the former, you get everything under the LT plus the 2.7-liter engine, 18-in. Bright Silver painted aluminum wheels, black exterior accents, LED fog lamps and tail lamps, heated front seats, and the double and crew cab models plus the 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine made available.
6. The Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss
An LT with off-road capabilities the Silverado LT Trail Boss includes all the features that come with the LT plus standard crew cab, Four-Wheel-Drive, a two-speed Autotrac transfer case, a dual-outlet exhaust, hill descent control, skid plates, 18-in. High Gloss Black painted aluminum wheels, mud-terrain Goodyear® Wrangler DuraTrac® Blackwall tires, LED fog lamps and tail lamps, Performance Red recovery hooks, the Z71 suspension with 2-in. factory lift, front heated bucket seats, and remote start.
7. The Silverado 1500 LTZ
The LTZ includes everything under the RST trim to which it adds a ton of extra standard features, the most important of which is the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8. Paired with either a 6- or 8-speed automatic transmission, it will deliver 355 horsepower, and 383 pound-feet of torque, enough to tow up to 11.100 pounds.
It also comes with a standard crew cab, integrated trailer brake controller, 20-inch polished finish wheels, heated power outside mirrors with auto-dimming driver’s side mirror, power up and down tailgate, Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus system with an 8-inch HD color touchscreen, and HD Radio™, front and rear park assist, front center console, HD rear vision camera, heated rear seats, hitch guidance with hitch view, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, perforated leather-appointed front seat trim, ventilated front seats, and wireless phone projection.
8. The Silverado 1500 High Country
The top of the range is the Silverado High Country. The most complete trim comes with all of LTZ’s trimmings to which it adds a dual-outlet exhaust, 20-inch painted aluminum machined-face wheels with Light Argent pockets, 6-inch chrome wheel-to-wheel assist steps, high-intensity LED reflector headlamps, an 8-inch digital driver information center, a Bose® premium sound system, navigation, wireless charging, a ten-way power front passenger’s seat, Chevytec spray-on bed liner, and power sliding rear window with rear defogger.
