Safety features on the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe
The brand-new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe was built to excel and that’s exactly what it does when it comes to safety features, as well as pretty much every other thing but today we focus on safety.
The full-sized SUV expanded in length to provide even more cargo space and legroom in the third row as it can now sit up to eight adults comfortably. It also got tons of upgrades in terms of active safety features both as standard and optional on higher trims.
So let's take a look at what you get under the base model and what the top-of-the-line High Country comes fitted with.
Standard safety features
The most important standard safety feature on the 2021 Tahoe is the Automatic Emergency Braking, an active safety feature that uses sensors, radar, and cameras to monitor the road ahead for imminent crashes. When one is detected and if you failed to push the brakes yourself, the system will try to stop the car to decrease the severity of the imminent crash or avoid it altogether.
The Forward Collision Alert and Following Distance Indicator are also part of the standard safety features list and their aim is to increase the driver's awareness by alerting him of possible dangers in time to react.
All future 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe owners can also count on Front Pedestrian Braking and the IntelliBeam Auto High Beams.
Available safety features
This is where things start to get really interesting as we debut with Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, an active system that’s meant to help drivers avoid veering out of their lane unintentionally. When the car detects a lane change but the blinking signal is turned off and the steering wheel isn’t moving with the direction of the car, it will first send out an alert and if you fail to act it will gently steer the car for you to keep it in its current lane.
Next is the Service Side Blind Zone Alert that through the help of side mirror alerts helps drivers avoid collisions while changing lanes.
Also available are Adaptive Cruise Control, Front and Rear Park Assist, HD Surround Vision, a Safety Alert Seat, the OnStar Safety and Security connected services, and the LATCH system.
Finally, Tahoe owners can also choose to get the Teen Driver pack which allows parents to limit the maximum speed limit and radio volume to help new drivers make better decisions on the road. On top of that, you will receive reports of miles driven and at what speeds and an immediate alert in the event of a car crash.
