The 2021 GMC Yukon Denali – lush, comfortable, and powerful
"Go big or go home" comes to mind every time we look at the 2021 GMC Yukon. Completely redesigned for this model year, the brand-new rendition of the iconic nameplate gets a new exterior look, a roomier interior, the latest connectivity and safety features, plus a superb three-engine lineup to choose from.
Today we’ll focus on GMC Yukon’s top trim, the Denali – a luxury-rich model that will delight even the pickiest prospective buyers.
What Denali gets you under the hood
With the Denali trim you get the 6.2-liter V8 as standard. It can produce 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and if properly equipped can tow up to 8,200 pounds. That’s enough to tow two Tesla Model 3s one stacked on top of the other.
The powertrain is coupled with a responsive 10-speed automatic which makes the mighty Yukon a pleasure to drive and gives it car- rather than truck-like handling.
Later this year a new option will be available, the turbocharged 3.0-l six-cylinder diesel engine that’ll deliver 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
What to expect inside the cabin
First of all, space. Lots and lots of space. Plenty of legroom even on the third row as the Yukon is capable of transporting eight full-grown adults in complete comfort.
Besides comfortable seating, the 2021 Yukon also sports tons of storage space with 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row that can balloon to a whopping 122.9 in total.
Besides roominess, Denali’s cabin looks high-end from top to bottom. Handsome wood trim and leather upholstery give it a luxury feels while the standard Denali features boost its comfort to match that of luxury crossover SUVs.
The dash is dominated by a huge 10.2-inch color touch that’s complete with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Future owners can also expect perks such as keyless entry and ignition, 20-inch wheels, a hands-free liftgate, heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, a 14-speaker Bose premium audio system, a wireless charging pad, navigation, a heated steering wheel, heated outboard second-row seats, power-folding third-row seats, adaptive suspension dampers, hill descent control, and driver-seat memory settings.
Safety above anything else
The Denali Yukon has one of the longest lists of safety features and it includes all the notable active ones such as Forward Collision Mitigation, Blind-Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Mitigation with both Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning, and the Rear Cross-Traffic Alert system that can now also detect pedestrians.
One of the safest cars on the road is also one of the most comfortable, spacious, and tech-rich vehicles out there. If you’re in the market for an eight-passenger luxury SUV and money isn’t an issue, you should be looking at the 2021 GMC Yukon Denali.
