THE GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 Pickup Truck
GMC’s Sierra 1500 is by all means one of the best pickup trucks on the market. It’s been one of the best for years now and will be so for years to come.
The higher the trim, the better the Sierra, and for off-road enthusiasts, it doesn't get better than the GMC Sierra 1500 AT4.
To begin with, the exterior look and feel is spectacular. A log way from the boxy pickup trucks of yesterday, Sierra’s aesthetic is dominated by C-shaped LED headlights that sit at the sides of a huge front grille that bears the GMC logo.
It has sharp, assertive lines that definitely showcase the AT4’s off-road, rugged character yet enough subtleness not to shout “I can easily hall timber up and down a mountain”. It’s a truck you can drive your kids to school with and they’ll be proud of being seen stepping out of it.
The base powertrain for the Sierra is a 4.3-liter V-6 that will belt out 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque. Designed for fleet purchases it’s probably not going to see many retail buys.
There’s also an available upgrade in the form of a 6.2-liter V-8 that will bump up the power at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque which will give you up to 11,300 pounds of towing power, or about three sedans stacked one on top of each other.
Geared towards off-roaders, the AT4 comes with a 2-inch suspension lift, chunkier tires, tougher hardware, and a high-capacity air filter.
It’s also equipped with a hill descent control system, skid plates, obviously standard four-wheel-drive with a two-speed transfer case, monotube shock absorbers, all-terrain tires, and a terrain-selectable traction control system.
If you’re impressed by the amount of off-road equipment, then wait until you see what’s waiting for future owners inside the AT4.
Cross-over-comparable perks like Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, Android Auto plus Apple CarPlay, an 8.0-inch color touch, automatic climate control, power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery, a High
Definition rearview mirror, dual-exhaust outlets, heated and ventilated front seats, plus heated second-row seats are all standard features with the AT4. On top of these there are plenty of distinguishable features like the AT4 logo on the floor mats plus exterior badging, and an 18-inch set of wheels.
There are also a few note-worthy packages available like the Preferred package that comprises of a bundle of luxury features like in-built navigation, a state-of-the-art Bose sound system, and wireless charging. The Sierra AT4 also makes available a first-in-class 15-inch diagonal Head-Up Display and comes with an industry-first use of carbon fiber composite in a pickup bed.
The best part, however, is that the AT4 is just a little pricier than a simple SLT Sierra with four-wheel drive, which makes it great value for the money.
