WHY THE 2021 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER IS FAR BETTER THAN THE JEEP RENEGADE
 For 2021, Chevrolet revived their Trailblazer nameplate after 12 years of discontinued production. Not only have they brought the Trailblazer back but they've completely reinvented it into a small-sized, reasonably-priced crossover that's set to make an impact in its first year back.
Today we'll compare it with Jeep's Renegade model to see which of the two is more deserving of your money. Considering the Renegade is almost $5,000 more expensive than the Trailblazer, it would have to come out significantly better to justify the 26% price hike.
It all starts with exterior design where both cars look modern but while the Trailblazer is every bit a small-sized executive SUV, the Jeep looks rather toyish. You can play the "young at heart" angle with the Renegade but it still gives out childish vibes.
The Trailblazer, however, is pure class. With a front end borrowed from the Camaro, an imposing grille, and the contrasting rooftop that creates an illusion to make it seem as though it's floating, anyone would be proud to drive it down the street.
Under the hood, the Chevrolet Trailblazer comes with one of two options: either the standard 1.2-liter I3 that produces 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque or the upgrade, a 1,3-liter I3 that delivers 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque.
The Renegade also has two engine options, the standard 2.4-liter inline-4 that churns out 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque plus the 1.3-liter turbo-4 that will deliver 177 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque.
Stronger engines for the Jeep but they come with a drawback - bad fuel economy. And for a small crossover that'll see trips to the office, the school, and supermarket on the weekly, that extra gas money adds up.
On the inside, the two cars are similar in quality with the newer 2021 Trailblazer taking the lead with its long list of standard features that include a 7.0-inch color touch that can be upgraded to an 8.0-inch one, both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and both USB-A and USB-C ports.
The Trailblazer takes the lead substantially when we look at safety features. With a poorly-rated Renegade following most safety tests and with the Trailblazer offering active safety features such as Automated Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Following Distance Indicator, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning on all their models, there's no comparing the two.
The Jeep costs $5,000 more but comes up short in every aspect except engine power where you'll be forced to pay for extra gas for the extra horsepower. It's a no brainer for us as we consider the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer the clear winner of the competition.
