GMC TRUCKS ARE PACKED WITH THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY AND SHOULD BE THE TOP CHOICE FOR TRUCK SHOPPERS CLOSE TO WATERTOWN CONNECTICUT
Phones aren't just phones anymore.
They take pictures, send emails, and buy stock.
And now, trucks aren't just trucks anymore. Gone are the days where a pickup truck would only be able to impress 16-year-old girls and prove mighty useful on construction sites or farms.
The trucks of today have adapted to city life and impress, well... everybody! Two major things contributed to the rise of the pickup truck. First is the obvious effort manufacturers have put into the design. Whereas the truck of the 70s, 80s, and 90s was a box on wheels meant to withstand the impact of a charging hippopotamus, the trucks of today are both resilient and easy on the eye.
Just look at GMC's lineup made up of the Canyon and the Sierra. Both gorgeous vehicles that could easily compete against crossovers in terms of overall look and feel.
The Canyon is part of the mid-size segment and sports such a suave styling and refined interior that it feels classy and up-scale from any angle, both inside and out. The Sierra, on the other hand, is more imposing, with its huge front grille and masculine lines on the exterior. It does, however, become rather welcoming the moment you step inside.
Looks don't give way to impotent engines, GMC knows what trucks are made for and dully delivers. Power, lots of it. Engine choices run from a gas V-6 to a turbocharged diesel, right down to the trusty V-8s that will amp that towing power so high you won't know what to do with all of it.
Through it all, the part that saw the most improvement is technology. Something reserved only for high-end cars, and top-shelf models just ten years ago, has become standard practice. Technology packed cars, from safety features to infotainment systems, you see them all even in the small, entry-level compact class.
Trucks make no exception, and GMC trucks could easily stand as the standard for smart and easy-to-use technology. Through either a 7.0 or an 8.0-inch touchscreen, depending on the model and trim level, the infotainment system is a dream to both use and experience.
Built with two objectives in mind, to enhance safety and comfort, it delivers on both. First, you have safety features like Bluetooth hands-free for calling and voice control so you can take and make phone calls with both hands on the wheel. To that, Apple Car Play compatibility adds Siri so you can also text while you drive, again using voice commands only.
To top things off, GMC trucks come with OnStar Safety and Security connectivity, and if you opt for the service, you'll have access to features like Automatic Crash Response, Emergency Services, Roadside Assistance, Stolen Vehicle Assistance.
Now, for the entertainment part. GMC offers 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity that will allow up to seven devices to connect simultaneously. Tablets, laptops, smartphones, all connected at the same time so your passengers can surf the net while you drive. The feature is also extremely useful for the driver as you'll be able to listen to your music by pairing your smartphone to the car's audio system with either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and you'll have access to Apple Maps or Siri.
The connectivity options don't end here, though.
Bluetooth option? Check! 4G LTE Wi-Fi? Check! Now it's time for the good old-fashioned USB or auxiliary port. Plenty of those to go around if you opt for superior trim levels. That way, you can also charge your phone or tablet on the go.
The feature that's got us most excited, though, and I need to remind you these are trucks we're talking about here is the MYGMC mobile app. As the company itself puts it, using it will allow drivers to "remotely start and stop or lock and unlock†your vehicle if equipped, send destinations to your vehicle's available navigation system if equipped, view key vehicle diagnostic information, locate your vehicle and more" all from their smartphones!
Something not even a luxury sedan could have matched only a decade ago it's now a pickup truck feature.
